Dear Colleagues:
You all as the originators of the teleportation paper will certainly
be happy to learn that we finally succeeded in realizing your
proposal. What we did was to use the HV+VH state (up to an internal
phase factor which is free to adjust) for the ancillary. We sent one
of the two photons onto the Bell State analyzer where it meets the
photon to be teleported. That photon we polarized at +45
degrees. Thus it is prepared in an equal coherent superposition of H
and V. For reason of having as few optical components as possible we
only analyze for the psi-minus state, i.e. HV - VH. The other
ancillary then is found to be also in the +45 degree
state. The experiment necessitated to use very short laser pulses
(ca. 200 fs) to provide high enough probability for the ancillary to
meet the photon to be teleported.
The data are very coarse but the effect is clearly visible. We are
busy improving the data and adding new measurements. Yet the data
rate is awfully slow. We typically have 1 three-fold coincidence per
second.
